Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical used in the production of polycarbonate plastics. BPA is a necessary building block for the production of polycarbonate (PC) . It makes plastic harder and thus ensures increased durability. Since the 1950s, BPA has formed the chemical backbone of most dimensionally stable, transparent polycarbonate plastics.

BPA, and subsequently PC, can be found in many plastic items, including plastic drinking bottles, food packaging, baby bottles, and the inner lining of beverage and food cans.

If you store food or liquids in such plastic containers, traces of BPA can transfer to them and enter the body through food intake.

BPA Info KeMar Kitchenware

KeMar Kitchenware has responded early on to the “Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 321/2011 of 1 April 2011 amending Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 as regards the restriction of the use of bisphenol a in plastic baby feeding bottles” .

Although the EU regulation currently only prohibits the use of BPA in baby bottles, KeMar Kitchenware does not use any components containing bisphenol A (BPA) or polycarbonate (PC) in any of its blenders, multifunction cookers, rice cookers, and sous vide/slow cookers. The water tank, turbo ring, and rice bowl of the KFS-900 and KFS-950 steam cookers are BPA-free. All components of the KFS-700 steam cooker that come into contact with water or food are completely BPA-free.

Instead of polycarbonate (PC), which contains BPA, polypropylene (PP) is used in our multi-function cookers, rice cookers, and sous vide/slow cookers . This plastic contains no plasticizers or bisphenol A. Polypropylene is internationally undisputed and, according to current knowledge, is safe and non-toxic . The material is odorless and tasteless, and dishwasher-safe.

Our KSB-200/300 blender series uses BPA-free TRITAN® for the blender containers. TRITAN® is manufactured by the Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, Tennessee, and is used in products such as baby bottles.

We use TPE for the lids of the KSB 200/M series and the handle of the KSM-800. The lid of the KSB-300 is made of TRITAN®.

The housing of the Airfryer KHF-550 is made of BPA-free polypropylene (PP).

TPE (thermoplastic elastomers) contain no problematic plasticizers, no BPA, no silicone, and no latex. They are free of heavy metals and oil, resistant to discoloration, germ-reducing, and vegan.
